Six Word Friday’s

Adrienne’s word for this week is Cover

The idea of six word Friday’s is:
Blogging: Six Words at a Time
Build a post around the prompt word, publish it and link up here on Fridays. The challenge? To keep each line you write to only SIX {6} WORDS!!

I usually post a picture with a six, (occasionally twelve) word caption.
Well Cover and one photo wasn’t working for me. I tried breaking this up into 6 words per line but that wasn’t working for me either.

My view is roofs.
I long for space and
For a huge uninterrupted sky.

Cosy and warm under winter covers
Until dog wanted out.
Through windows that need cleaning I saw the morning sun.

Through my lens I saw the frosty tiles
Neatly lined up against the sky.
I saw the sun flare
And smiled

My boring roofs have come to life.

Negatives have become positive

Thank you for the sunrise and thank you dog.

Frozen World

I thought you might like to see some of the exhibits I saw last weekend at Lacock Abbey.

This beautiful snowdrop is by Jenny Pickford According to the leaflet she is one of the UK’s leading contemporary female blacksmith artists.

Pairs Week Five

Linking to Helen’a meme for 2015 Pairs

My Pair for this week is Large & Small or Woman-made and Natural

We visited the Abbey and Village of Lacock in Wiltshire at the weekend to look at the Frozen World exhibition. It was wonderful, freezing cold and with a biting wind but we had such a lovely day.

This is Jenny Pickfords wonderful snowdrop

And this is a little clump of Mother Natures snowdrops with a little pixel magic by me.

Winter Photographic Scavenger Hunt

I have some more photos for the lovely Winter Scavenger Hunt that Eileen at In My Playroom & Joy at Daisy Row, are hosting.

I was beginning to think I would have to substitute this item and then on my book binding course I saw this! It is on a door that has been there since 1599.

On 23rd January we had a frost that hung about for a few hours for me to photograph it! Nothing since.

I had no idea I had so many things with polka dots on let alone be wearing dotty socks and slippers!

At Christmas I put some pine cones in a tall glass vase instead of the usual basket. I really like them.

I love the beautiful textures on this bracket fungi

I’m loving looking for the items in the Scavenger Hunt and have fourteen so far.
How are you doing?

Thank you Eileen & Joy.

Me on Monday

Last Monday actually because I got busy the rest of last week and wasn’t able to post. I don’t think Sian will mind? Do you?

It was a series of ‘firsts for me’ kind of weekend.
The quote that Deb at Paper Turtle used on her blog post on Friday 23rd is how I felt before I arrived
“Courage is the power of the mind to overcome fear.” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Away on my own, in a hotel, remembering to take my key, finding my way around, constantly arriving for meals, on time, arriving for class, on time, remembering door codes kind of weekend.
It was learning a new skill, trying to stay awake during the last session of the day (8.30 – 9.30pm!) kind of weekend.
A weekend with a bunch of lovely men & women keen to share their knowledge and love of whatever skills they had.
A cold but dry and bright weekend. A weekend with my camera.
It was an e-mail sharing kind of weekend.
A tea (in a china cup and saucer) and cake taken in the library kind of weekend.
Wonderful meals at regular intervals with the most taxing decision being, to choose what to eat.

I loved it, I loved being away on my own.
I missed my dog (and husband) but I loved being ‘just me’ I loved the course on bookbinding and the place we were staying and learning.
No picture of me but some pictures from the weekend.
