A peek into my life

12th April 2013

Outside my window… it is dry but overcast. We have awful weather forecast for the weekend but for now it is still
I am thinking… about my follow up visit to the hospital yesterday. I have to have more tests
I am thankful… that it is not what I was dreading
In the kitchen… I made a fabulous beef and chorizo casserole
I am wondering… where I put the recipe so that I can make it again
I am wearing… Oops! Still in my nightie (well I had a busy day yesterday and feel tired today
I am creatingsome little knitted hats to raise funds for Age UK.
I am going… out with my friend tomorrow to the local museum to make a patchwork square for a charity thing. (friend has all the details)
I am reading… Mollie Makes, it fell through the letterbox this morning. Somerset Arts Week book, which I picked up yesterday and a ‘days out book’ I want to go on a date with my camera
I am hoping… that the weather will be a bit warmer soon.
I am learning… about gelli plate printing
Around the house… clearing out, painting walls, building wardrobes. Upstairs it’s all change
A favourite quote for today… Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
A few plans… a few days out booked, a craft evening next week. Lunch and an afternoon in the park with a friend and our camera’s

life is calm and peaceful, life is good

And some pictures of spring flowers to encourage spring to turn up…soon? pretty please?

Journal your Christmas 14th – 20th

Where did that week go? In a haze of work mostly and at home we are under siege from the dogs muddy feet. I am sure she has another one or two legs this week. I try to catch her as she scoots through the door but she is so much quicker than me.

I am always in a dilemma about keeping the carpet sparkling (ish) especially at this time of year because I remember my friend visiting me one Christmas, she had cancer and knew she didn’t have long to live. I had cleaned the carpet (again) but that morning Pepsi brought what seemed like, half the garden in, I was so fed up but my lovely friend told me that the state of my carpet was not important, in the big scheme of things it was more important to sit with her and be together. So, my carpets have muddy paw prints on again this morning but you can’t see them and actually neither can I. Pauline’s face is in my head and I can here her talking to me…

I have some catching up to do. Pages to post and blogs to visit, I can’t wait to look at all your fabulous pages. What a creative bunch you are.

If you wan’t to read my ramblings journalling, click on the pages, they open in a new window and should be big enough for you to read.

If you made it to here, thank you x
I hope you are happy and content and have a wonderful Christmas.

May Currents

May Currents

listening: The sparrows chattering in the ivy outside my window

eating: Nothing, waiting for breakfast.

drinking: Water

wearing: Gorgeous new nightie

feeling: Upbeat

weather: Not so good, we have had huge winds and overcast skies but this morning is bright and dry

wanting: It to be the weekend because by then my car will have had it’s MOT, Lotta will have finished her exam and Ben will have done his motorbike test!

thinking: About the surprise we have planned for Paul’s birthday

enjoying: The lighter mornings and evenings and the promise of a summer? I live in hope…

wondering:. If we could have a holiday?

Since last time

at home: Lotta visited again this month. She took a weekend off her revision; it was so lovely to see her. We went out for a meal at a lovely Italian restaurant, last minute decisions are sometimes the best! I had tea with Marcella at the quarry in town, we chatted ‘for England” it was good to see her. Ben has his longed for motorbike, until the test all he can do is polish it! Paul’s work is much the same, daily frustrations of dealing across three continents but they have extended the contract until the end of May.

Favourite Photo
I have so many this month, but I really love the solar lamp I bought for the garden. I took the picture at ten o’clock at night with my 50mm lens. I am constantly amazed by it!

at work: Much the same although the last week was easier as I had built in some time for paperwork. Next week will be the same as I am on leave the following week so left some visit free time to catch up. Last weekend we went to a fabulous art exhibition about the brain and dementia. I think I’ll make a page about it, insufficient room here!

Been anywhere nice this month? We went to see Kate Rusby at the Playhouse. We both enjoyed the evening, Paul more than me I think. Kate has a beautiful voice but I couldn’t hear what she was singing about which made it a bit difficult as she is a folk singer and her songs are stories! I was at the playhouse again the same week, this time with the girls from work. We saw Abba Forever. Although I love the Abba songs I didn’t like this band. I enjoyed the evening out with the girls though!
Paul & I had a gorgeous afternoon at Court Farm we went with the sole intention of taking photographs.
I can’t wait for another photographic outing.

Plans? Paul & I are going to see Ladysmith Black Mambasa in Cheltenham next weekend and Ben & I have arranged a surprise for Paul for his birthday. The three of us will have a very exciting day.

April Currents

listening:to the sound of mowers! It is Saturday just before 10.00am bright and dry.

eating: nothing, waiting for breakfast.

drinking: a mug of tea.

wearing: a bright orange towel! I had to start this before I forgot.

feeling: happy, I had a lovely surprise last evening. Paul bought me a new lens for my camera.

weather: a real mix over the last couple of weeks. Last weekend was hot enough to sit out in the evening. Today it is overcast but warm.

wanting: to get out and play with the new lens.

thinking: about a new on line blogging class I have signed up for.

enjoying: visiting some new photography blogs.

wondering: will there ever be enough time in my day.

The last four weeks
what do we think?

at home: It’s been a better month than last. Paul has settled into the madness that is the new contract. Ben has been through a tough episode at work but we came through it intact. The rest of the family are doing great.
Ben went to stay with Lotta in Helsinki for a week and then she came here for a week. I love having her in the house. It is so nice to have tiny shoes
and girly things about the place.

at work: Just snowed under with it again. There are times when I wonder how much longer I can do the job. We made Easter Bonnets this week at the memory café, they were a great success and made up for recent tough days.

been anywhere nice this month? We went to see Chas & Dave in Cheltenham. We had such fun: it was a great concert, with people on their feet singing and dancing and having a great time.
It was the bands farewell tour, after touring for 30years!

plans? Paul & I are going to see Kate Rusby this month and we have an office night out to see ABBA Forever

Currents

17th March 2011 Currents

I want to start my Currents list again which I found here
I am going to make a book, a mini book. I have gathered together my birthday cards from last month. This time I am going to keep the whole card. On one side I will write my ‘Currents’ and on the other side something about the person that sent me the card and anything else I can think of to say.
I will bind them together with my Bind it all, or on large rings, whatever I can find. There will be ribbon and brads, papers and flowers, completely embellished as all good mini books should be!
So, a kind of a diary then?
Well yes I suppose it is!
With lists in?
Yes
So a book of lists!
Well yes. I can’t help it! (my name is Miriam and I make lists).
The thing is I had such lovely birthday cards, I just can’t throw them away and I have withdrawal symptoms from paper and glue and someone just gave me a bunch of ribbons!
No, not blue!

listening: to the blackbird in my garden, it is 6.50pm, dark and he is still calling.

eating: Nothing, waiting for dinner. Beef and roasted red pepper stir fry tonight.

drinking: a lovely chilled glass of Pinot Grigio…my favourite

wearing: black skirt white top, black short sleeved loose knit wrap, Huge, brightly coloured beads. Work stuff!

feeling: up beat, I have had a good working day and got loads done.

weather: This week: We have had some beautiful spring sunshine, a very welcome change from cold and rain!

wanting: dinner, now that I have thought about it!

thinking: how good it feels to be posting again

enjoying: starting this again,

wondering: What tomorrow will bring? Family time will be good, but a family funeral, not so good.

I want to extend this for my new book.
so,
the month so far, what do we think?

at home: It’s been a tough month so far and still two weeks to
go; too many things to upset and worry me this month.

at work: Just snowed under with it! I had a nice day out on Tuesday with a colleague though. We went to Taunton in the sunshine and met some lovely people. It was kind of uplifting.

been anywhere nice this month? We went to Westonbirt Arboretum last weekend, had a great day: I can’t wait to return in May to see the bluebells and the Acers, which will be in leaf.
I drove back from my work a different way on Thursday and saw swans being fed by Sue, (a new friend). The pair of swans have been calling here for the last 20 years. Every year they bring their babies to visit. I missed them of course but Sue will let me know when they visit next year.

Plans? Just to get to the end of this month.

The Swan

And this to show you why they keep returning.

Does anyone know the song by Christy Moore, Two Island Swans? I have been singing it all afternoon!
Do you know that when this happens to you it is called ‘an earworm’
