Colours of Autumn

It feels really autumnal here this morning. I don’t mind a bit as it is my favourite season. I just love the colours of Autumn so I made a collage for you. I used Collage It Pro for Mac.

Over at Kim Klassen’s Cafe, for Texture Tuesday this week she has asked us to use an image with orange in it and one of her textures. My beautiful orange Gerbera seemed to fit the bill. There is a layer of her texture ‘Chase’ over it.

And not so much Autumnal more Kingfisher Blue.

Look what I got in the post today from Julie’s Etsy shop,
inspiration for my fabric book that is ‘resting’ at the moment, but not for much longer now.

Thank you Julie for a speedy delivery and beautiful fabricky bits.

Photo Art Friday

Over at Pixel Dust Photo Art Bonnies challenge this week was to come up with a seven word phrase describing your process as an artist with an accompanying piece of photo art.
Very different and very challenging for me.

It has been a slow and tentative journey and I have felt very timid about showing my pictures on a Digital Art meme but Bonnie’s Photo Art Friday community is so encouraging and supportive… I love it!

I was thinking along the lines of travelling, and sunlight, dark and light. Travelling along a road towards sunlight? My words for this year are create and contentment. I think that my phrase kind of sums up my creative endeavours so far.

This is what I came up with.

It is two images, two of Bonnie’s textures and tweaking with levels and curves adjustment layers.

It will be interesting to see what others come up with this week over at Photo Art Friday

Self Love, Self Doubt and an Irrational fear

I was reading Paige Balcer’s, post Self Love. She talks about self doubt and comparison. I understand where she is coming from! It is an interesting blog post.

Theodore Roosevelt said that comparison is the thief of joy. How wise. I have that quote on my desk. I am moving it closer to my eyes!

Paige’s challenge then;
“So I encourage you to share a photo that makes you proud & happy. Forget about the technical aspects or how it compares to other people’s photos, but do tell why you love it”.

This photo of an owl butterfly reminds me of a fabulous day out arranged especially for me & my camera. I wanted to take pictures of something other than flowers just for a day. My husband took me to the zoo.
Although I think butterflys and birds are fascinating and very beautiful I have an irrational fear of them anywhere near me, but I wanted some pictures. I had to leave the butterfly house, in tears, after only a few shots. I was amazed to have anything at all. So although I have issues with ‘feeling proud’ the picture does make me feel happy when I look at it.

Do you have an irrational fear?

I am joining in with Shutter Sisters September prompts, posting here if you would like to see days 1 – 9. I got a bit over enthusiastic with ‘Reflections’.

Today My Day Looks Like This

I liked this post on Rinda’s blog, Her Monday Musings used this list of headings:

Outside My Window
I am thinking
I am thankful for
From the kitchen
I am wearing
I am hoping
I am reading
I am busy creating
I am hearing (and watching)
Around the house and garden.
It reminded me that last year I completed my book of Currents which I found here
It is so good to look back on. I’d like to start it or something similar again.

My Day 10th September 2012 looks like this:

Outside My Window: Bright sunshine, white fluffy clouds, deliciously warm and it’s only 10.30am
I am hearing: the sparrows in the ivy outside my window
I am watching: the trees swaying gently in the breeze and a butterfly drifting by
I am thinking: about my sister-in-law, her daughter is getting married this week,
I am thankful: for some time to myself
I am learning: to use the video setting on my camera and having some amusingly bad results.
I am busy creating: My Learn Something New Everyday Project with Shimelle
A few plans: A hospital day on Thursday and providing all goes well ‘The’ wedding on Friday
A quote for today: “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are” Joseph Campbell
In the garden: secateurs, shears, hedge trimmer and chain saw! All saw the light of day yesterday and we saw the light flood into our jungle
In the Kitchen: Chilled Gazpacho soup and Caesar salad can make a daily appearance as far as I’m concerned.

My day has ten items! that means I can link to Shimelles meme Ten on the Tenth.
“Result!” as my boy would exclaim.

And a picture. I made this for a lovely lady called Mary who sent me a really beautiful e-mail last week.

My Month in Numbers

I am joining in with Julie Kirks Month in Numbers meme again.
