Texture Tuesday

I am linking to Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday again this week. This time we can link our favourite pictures with one of Kim’s textures on. I just love playing with photoshop and textures, did I mention that before?

I wanted to try something other than flowers this week. I absolutely love flowers and they are the perfect subject for adding texture but I wanted to see what else I could do.
I really love The Red Devon and the Cockerel. I think you get a sense of the rich colour and farmyard fragrance (!) from the darker textures.
The Hen house picture was so cluttered but I really wanted to do something with it. I loved the apple tree in the sitting room, it was so unusual, I wanted to share it. Sweet Treat not to heavily brushed was the answer.

The Photo of Fowey was so dark to start with. The good one had some people in but they weren’t adding anything to the shot so I returned to the dark one, set the blending mode to screen, added a couple of layers of the Grey Day texture and only brushed the house doors, the road and the textured wall and only on one layer.

The waterwheel looks so lovely with the heavy Ben’s collection 6 texture, it has really come alive and is just right for me now.

I loved the challenge that I gave myself, I Hope you like them too. I have set aside some more non flower pictures to play with!
I really love to know what textures have been used on a picture and the different blending modes that you use so, I have all the recipes written down for mine , if you want them, just e-mail me.

Friendship

Thank you to my lovely friend Marcella, she arranged for us to meet at The Town Quarry today.
“Sounds boring, what do you want to meet her there for?” said family in unison.
“Because our town quarry is a lovely place! it has the most beautiful and photogenic rock faces, it has a blacksmith forge, it has a tea room, it has things for sale, crafty things! and today is the last day of the North Somerset Arts fortnight, there will be lovely things to look at (but not photograph) and I haven’t been able to get to any exhibits this time!”
Much more than this though is that I haven’t seen Marcella for a long time, but she is so beautiful that it didn’t matter. We walked into each others company as though it had been just a few days.
We laughed, we swapped stories, tales of children and husbands, recipes and craft stuff! we had tea and sat in the sun, we walked around to take some pictures and we looked at the exhibits and talked to some of the artists. Oh! it was so inspiring and made me want to craft again with paper and glue and even try some paint!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

I am linking up with Scavenger Hunt Sunday again.

This weeks challenge:

These large purple alliums remind me of my mother. Years ago they were the stars of The Chelsea Flower Show. Mum thought that they were so beautiful they could never be grown in an ordinary garden!

Speciality Tulips. I found this part of the challenge really difficult this week. I almost posted an empty space until this popped into my mind this morning.

I thought the little crocus was never going to show, but with so much sun through the glass this week up she popped in time for SHS!

I had taken this shot early last week ready for sprouting, as I like it so much I have posted it as well.

This is from my library. As soon as I saw the challenge it popped into my mind. I had this picture as my screen saver for a long time. I still love it so here it is, lazy ole frog.

The viburnum brings the first perfume to my garden. When I catch her scent on the evening air I always think “Spring is here at last”

Project 64

This week Project 64is looking for red violet. This was the most difficult one for me so far. I just couldn’t seem to find anything that wasn’t just exactly right for magenta which we had a couple of weeks ago.
I went to a lovely town near to us with my friend today. I was clutching my little piece of card on which I had scribbled with the red violet crayon, the colour is so different on paper to the crayon. We had lots of fun looking for red violet in all the charity shops and the pretty little shops that sell all the things you never knew you needed and there they were calling to you! By the end of our afternoon we left a few bemused shop owners wondering what on earth a photography challenge about a colour could possibly be about! No I didn’t buy anything red violet in colour although I did buy something purple!
