Texture Tuesday

I am linking to Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday again this week. This time we can link our favourite pictures with one of Kim’s textures on. I just love playing with photoshop and textures, did I mention that before?

Water wheel at Polperro

I wanted to try something other than flowers this week. I absolutely love flowers and they are the perfect subject for adding texture but I wanted to see what else I could do.
I really love The Red Devon and the Cockerel. I think you get a sense of the rich colour and farmyard fragrance (!) from the darker textures.
The Hen house picture was so cluttered but I really wanted to do something with it. I loved the apple tree in the sitting room, it was so unusual, I wanted to share it. Sweet Treat not to heavily brushed was the answer.

The Photo of Fowey was so dark to start with. The good one had some people in but they weren’t adding anything to the shot so I returned to the dark one, set the blending mode to screen, added a couple of layers of the Grey Day texture and only brushed the house doors, the road and the textured wall and only on one layer.

The waterwheel looks so lovely with the heavy Ben’s collection 6 texture, it has really come alive and is just right for me now.

I loved the challenge that I gave myself, I Hope you like them too. I have set aside some more non flower pictures to play with!
I really love to know what textures have been used on a picture and the different blending modes that you use so, I have all the recipes written down for mine , if you want them, just e-mail me.

Have a look over here to see some really fabulous work with textures.

  1. What I especially love is that you have given us lots of different examples of what these textures can do. It’s astonishing! That farm machinery has really caught my eye

  2. great set – good to see some wonderful textured images that are not flowers – the flowers are fun but I really enjoy the change and illustration that textures work well on other things too.

My fav is the town path – would never have guessed is started as a dark photo – thanks for including the descriptions of what you did

  3. These are gorgeous Miriam; I tend to love playing with actions more, but I can see that I need to get in some practice with textures too. Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed reading your work flow too!

  4. These are lovely pictures and you made the most of them with your post processing. I really like the rich colors of the chicken and the calf but the solitude and peace of the other ones is appealing too.

  5. Miriam I just love what I see on your blog:) I am keeping a mental note to check out Kim Klassen when I have more time to, but seeing your photos makes me want to stop everything and start playing with textures! I LOVE the chicken, such rich colours!
