1st outing for the gloves!

I can’t believe I actually stopped the car and took this photo! 21 days and it’s become part of my day. I am thrilled! Did you know that if you do something for 30 days it becomes a habit? I read that somewhere. 10 days to go and I’m still on track.
I had no idea it was so cold this morning, I can’t drive with cold hands so the heater was on full blast until I found this pair of warm & wooly gloves in the car. My friend Joan bought them for me while we were on a working holiday in Torquay in 2009. Everyone thought she was bonkers buying gloves in the summer.
Cosy hands, happy me, and lovely warm thoughts on this cold and wet morning about a happy time with a lovely lady.

So lovely in the sunshine this morning

I don’t know the name of this shrub. It is so like a holly but it has no spines, I know there is such a holly, maybe a type of Euonymus? I wonder if someone will tell me? it would be good to know.
Whatever it is, it made me happy to see it today.

Postcrossing

Greetings from China

postcard from Beijing

A few months ago I joined Postcrossing. It is such a fun thing to do! My favourite postcard so far is from China, part of the postage stamp is the same picture as the front of the postcard.
I try to send a couple of cards a week and its so nice to have one fall, unexpectedly, through your letterbox.
This morning I received three postcards! one from Spain, one from Minnesota and one from Belarus.
What a lovely start to Wednesday.

Not quite what I expected to see!

I think it is sometimes a good idea to go a different way, to take a wrong turning, to explore a different area, you just never know what might turn up.
This is what turned up for me after taking a wrong turn on the way to my visit this afternoon.

.

.

There were three of these wonderful steel Donkeys.
Now living in Weston-super-Mare it is not unusual to see donkeys, either on the beach or in the fields around the town. But these three beauties were in the middle of a housing estate. It turns out that the donkeys have been installed in this special place as it is where they used to cross on their walk from the beach to their winter pasture.
The donkeys have been created by sculptor Sally Matthews.
I will go and visit them again on a less busy day and take some more photos for you.

Purple Potatoes?

I can’t decide which I like best, the colour of the purple potato or the water after cooking! they tasted fab though and I made the gravy with the green water, Is it the antioxident do you think?

.

I couldn’t resist three types of potato with the roast chicken tonight (it’s the Irish in me). Don’t the colours look lovely together?
