Scavenger Hunt Summer 2013

We had some gorgeous weather over the weekend with no wind on Sunday… perfect for a trip to make my first Scavenger Hunt picture.

Scavenger Hunt 4 Aeroplane

The things I do ‘for my art’

* No wind? I needed to take a step ladder and don’t like being on them at the best of times, I certainly wouldn’t have gone near it had there been a breath of breeze.

* We had to park on a roundabout (no kidding here, should have taken a photo of that!)

* In full public view. If you knew how self-concious I am you would be impressed

But I so wanted this picture..

When we first came to live here Concorde flew over the town (very high) every evening at 5pm on her way to Heathrow.
She flew into Filton Airport for the last time 10 years ago. I still think she is beautiful.
Thanks to Rinda’s Scavenger Hunt I made the picture I have wanted for soooo long.

I made this as a back up in case I couldn’t get the one I wanted. Do you do that?

Photo Heart Connection

…deepen the connection between your photos and your heart and soul by participating in this monthly review of your images, to find the one that best connects to your heart.

This is my PHC from my May photos.

PHC May 2013

I have watched the Robin for a number of days now. When either of us is at the door watching her, she sits here until she thinks we are not looking before she makes two more stops before taking the food for her chick. She is so wary and still that I was able to use my long lens to make a number of pictures without disturbing her.
Tirelessly she flies backwards and forwards, backwards and forwards to feed her demanding chick squawking in the ivy.

I have an idea how she feels. My chick is forever hungry and I admit to complaining but I watch the Robin and wonder what have I to complain about?
At least I have the required number of legs.

Her chick is in the bottom picture.

Thank you Kat, this is such a lovely practice each month.

I changed my mind about the story I had ready to publish for Story Telling Sunday

The prompt is up for 52 photo’s project

Lonicera

She clambers and climbs, twists and turns her way up and around the garden arch every year without fail.
I planted her for her colours and her perfume and because she takes me back to childhood memories of being with my grandfather.

He loved her too; he loved her perfume.

Honeysuckle was one of the first flowers and scents that I learned. This one is not the one that grows in the hedgerows that we would have seen. It is the perfume that takes me right back…

On our weekly journey to my aunts for Sunday lunch, at some point in the journey Grampy would wind the windows of the car down and say “ Can you smell that”

“What Grampy?” Piped up a little voice from the back seat of the Ford Pop.

“The scent of summer” he would reply.

Do you see that hexagonal window towards the centre of the picture? It is blue with a blue vase in it and just so very pretty…

Blue window

I couldn’t decide which photo to use for my MiN and went with chocolate box cottage because it really was just that… A chocolate box picture of an english thatched cottage…

But, I really love the blue window
