Bonnie at Pixel Dust Photos gave us a gorgeous new texture last week and asked us to use it to make some digital art for the gallery this week.
I am taking a photo a day again and this year I am following Katrina Kenedys prompts which you can see here
Repetition was the prompt on day 3. I saw these lovely spires from the eight floor of the car park I was in and thought they would be perfect for Repetition but as usual I only had my phone on me. The results are so good, the spires were quite a distance away.
This is the original pictures from my phone
I put the texture over and at blend mode Lighten I saw this effect. I like the way it takes all the detail out just leaving the repeating shapes.
This is the version I would like to hang in the gallery this week though
As always there will be some beautiful art hanging on the virtual walls of the gallery here
great cityscape to start – I still can’t get over how good phone ant tablet cameras are now. I love both of your treatments. This texture seems to be really good for creating the blocked effect of your middle image
great image to use – takes the texture so well – last one looks like a Canaletto
You have done a nice work with this picture.
Stunning image, I think you should hang it on your wall for real. It looks like a painting.

The ‘Lighten’ effect is neat. Love the last image – the application of the texture and a ‘painterly’ texture is magical! Beautiful work, Miriam.
That middle one has a Christmas scene feel to it – it’s fascinating how you can change what we are seeing with a few clicks!
Beautiful panoramic photo in an exquisite result, I like the haze of the horizon.
They are all gorgeous. My favorite is the last one, though!
I love what you’ve done with the repetition theme. I’m going to check out the 365 day photo challenge. Who knows – I may even join you!
They’re all beautiful, but, oh that last one!! Gorgeous! Definitely worth hanging on your wall
(Thank you for visiting my blogs!)
cool. the last one looks like it is from an old movie. 🙂
Your wonderful photo worked very well with the texture. Very nice!
What lovely effects you got with your already beautiful photo…I agree, though, the last one is gallery worthy. Gorgeous!
oh, Miriam!! they are wonderful!!
I love the story and the process and that you shared the things you especially loved. that’s the real gem in this sharing, hearing how making our art MOVES each of us!!
You certainly live in a beautiful place in the world…..and the photo you used this week just begged to be ‘textured’! It came out quite lovely. Isn’t it amazing what happens when we play with these images?
Awesome photo to start with and your edits are very nice. The first one is so different with just the building being highlighted by the texture.
The last one is very intriguing and pretty. I think it’s my favorite.
