Snap!

Week 41

Linking with Helena and her Snappers with my Looking Up Pictures. I confess to having forgotten to post these over the last few weeks. I took them in Budapest when we were there in the middle of September!

This is one of many pictures I took in Keleti Station, it was so unlike any stations I have seen before, very ornate with lots of pillars and paintings

On the station was a beautiful restaurant where we went for milk shakes! How grand is this for a station cafe?

Along the road from our hotel were three enormous yellow buildings each with a walkway connecting them. The next one along was a double height walkway.

Oh! alright then, I’ll break the rules, just for you.

  1. Fabulous photos and worth breaking the rules for. That is a particularly ornate railway station I must say. It’s amazing what effort was put into these buildings but I guess they were very important. Sometimes when you look beyond the initial grot of our railway stations you do see some amazing architecture. Look at Bristol Temple Meads . It is so much better than it used to be.
I also visited some in the States namely Grand Central in New York and the Union Station in Washington DC. Not as ornate as yours here but still amazing.

  2. fabulous glimpses of Budapest – truly a city for looking up (and down and all around) – I didn’t go to the train station – must go back!

  3. Love the cupola shot! The elevated walkways remind me of the Bridge of Aspiration in London’s Covent Garden … it connects the Royal Ballet’s Upper School to the Royal Opera House (and I’m been fortunate enough to walk along it).

  4. That first shot looks like most of the Victorian stations – such as Paddington Station here in London – or Liverpool St before they built over the top.

    Those walkways look fun too.

  5. I commented to Helena today, that Spain was on our bucket list, but Budapest and Prague are even on top of that. I would love to hear more about your trip, and your photos confirm I should keep Budapest near the top of the list!
