Week 28
Ben and I went to Dryham Park near Bath last week for a sunset deer walk only there was no sunset. The deer were magnificent though.
Dyrham Park’s name originates from Doerham, the Saxon word for deer. They have a managed herd of 200+ fallow deer who roam free within 270 acres. Most of which my hips and back told me I walked around!
It was wonderful to see the does with their fawns completely at ease in front of some amazing lenses!
I have called his weeks set of pictures for Helena’s meme:The Holly and the Ivy which I couldn’t stop humming, much to Ben’s annoyance as he couldn’t fathom why! It is a bit tenuous I know, but you can’t always order your humming. I didn’t see a sunrise or hear a merry organ either!
Also I have completely broken the rules of ‘up to four pictures’
Thank you Helena 🙂
Beautiful SNAP collection. I think deer are such beautiful, soulful creatures. Your fallow deer are quite different to our white tail deer, which are the common deer in the wilds around my part of the world. I like that these delicate creatures are kept safe in the park.
It’s amazing when you can get that close. I experienced the same thing once in Valley Forge park. Deer everywhere and not at all bothered by the humans walking around.
Beautiful! We have deer on our urban street nearly every week, but none have as many beautiful white spots that these have,
We visited Dyrham on our honeymoon, many years ago. I remember the deer; but I also remember the sedan chair in the hall of the house. I’d never seen one in real life before.
I’m glad you did ‘break the rules’ because your final photo is my favourite :). How wonderful to see these graceful creatures … Hoping your back and hips have recovered?
Remind me to give you an abacus next time I see you…. I’ll help you with a little counting…… Seriously speaking lovely pictures. Must have been a great walk.
lovely photos…I probably would have posted way more than the 4 limit too!!
a fabulous sight seeing so many together – thank you for doing all the walking for us –
Aren’t they majestic looking with those large antlers. Lovely snaps.
