Week 20
Stalking the blackbirds Zooming in and out in the garden at the blackbirds again.
She is on the nest
He is feeding her
He has three or four stopping places before he goes into the nest. He starts on the the tall fence which is fairly open, he can see the nest and the garden. Sometimes he flits along a little closer to the shrubs that afford him some cover, more waiting, more looking. He can’t see the nest from here but he is nearer to the shrubs. He can hear the click of my shutter though! Then onto the low fence which is much closer to the shrubs. It is also right next to the water bath but he can’t visit that this time. From here over to the arch, his last look out post from where he can see the nest. More waiting and waiting, checking and checking and keeping his eye on me!
Then when I blink my eyes he has taken the short flight up into the ivy to his lady. I miss that bit!
What a great system! Isn’t nature wonderful?
Thank you Helena.
Good Morning, Miriam!
I love the birds, too. But they ARE illusive little critters to photograph.
However, I’ve never encountered a critter quite as illusive as Josephine. I FINALLY got a couple of nice ZIZO’s of her the other day. Speak of the devil, here she is demanding attention. xx, m
great watching and fabulous capture of him with the worm in his mouth – I stalk the local nesting geese and swans too!
Great pairing, especially the Zoom In shot. I do love blackbirds!
Great ZIZO….I am stalking wood ducks!
i spend far too long watching the birds in the spring, wish I could capture them as well as you, beautiful shots.
Great shots! Fascinating how he has a routine for taking the food to her.
Your patience has really taken off – superb photo … I spent a frustrating time trying to snap the young robin who kept coming within inches of me in the garden. So I am full of admiration for your skills!
Visiting from Be Still….. I absolutely love all the Waterlouge photos on your header! Are you interested in being in a virtual blog tour? Let me know. I’ll send you the details.
More great shots; that last one is amazing! I finally got a shot of a cardinal in the woods the other day, but nothing as great as your bird photos.
Well I’m impressed here! I’ve been trying for ages to creep on on our magpies to get photos but they keep disappearing
He’s beautiful, Miriam. And I think he like being photographed too! 🙂
You are a very competent stalker it seems – they’d better watch out, you’re a really good shot.
Gorgeous photos!
🙂
Fab shots … keep watching … and sharing!
You and he…both of you zooming about the back yard!
Joking aside, I’m glad your patience was rewarded. The second photo is spectacular!
Fantastic zoom in Miriam! It must have taken a lot of patience.
I love to watch blackbirds but I have to discourage them from nesting in my garden due to numerous cats in the neighbourhood. I often see them on my dog walks and in my local park.
