Kat Sloma hosts a wonderful practice each month called Photo Heart Connection.
Deepen the connection between your photos and your heart and soul by participating in this monthly review of your images, to find the one that best connects to your heart.
It was my first outing with a new group.
I was the subject of a bit of interest, on my own, with my camera.
“You should go and speak to that gentleman over there, he belongs to the camera club, you might enjoy that” a couple of people had said to me as they passed me in the garden.
Eventually I came along side him and his wife. She was pointing out things that “would make a nice photo” to him.
“Would you tell me about the camera club?” I asked, smiling at him as we walked along to the blue bridge.
“Yes of course. We have a monthly theme, a get together to show our photographs, prints of course and we critique each others work. It’s a nice friendly group”
I was looking into the water with my camera now.
“What are you seeing there?” said the gentleman from the camera club.
“The wonderful reflections in the water, look” I said pointing into the pond.
He didn’t.
I don’t think it’s the group for me.
Thank you Kat
I love the picture and the storyQ
🙁
Unfortunate for him, Miriam.
I am glad that you saw them, because they sure made for a beautiful image.
You keep right on noticing these wonderful things. 🙂
I think you made a very wise choice, doesn’t sound quite like the right fit.
A beautiful story to make a strong point. Prints, critiques don’t make the photograph. Rather it is the heart and eyes of those who hold the camera and see what is really in front of them. You will find like minded people.
I wonder what he saw. It might be worth one visit as one member of a club does not always represent the whole!
How could someone not see that? It’s beautiful! Great photo and great story.
I’d like to join a camera club one day …. with, hopefully, other receptive participants!
Well, how rude of him! If he’s typical of the group, it definitely doesn’t sound worth joining. And he also missed out an a wonderful photograph! It reminds me of Monet’s garden.
smiling in recognition – I’ve had similar conversations with local photography class members –
Isn’t it funny what we chose to see. Love the reflection of the blue bridge.
Great story. In fact, being part of a club won´t make any person be a good photographer, but a good eye will do. Accepted this we can learn and share, but always giving our own vision a chance. That´s what you have done, and your capture is beautiful
Fantastic photo-heart connection
I love your story! I do think it’s interesting that we all see differently…and a lot of times I see an image and think…I never would have seen that. So glad you shared the reflection with us…I love reflections. Beautiful work!
Wonderfully seen and captured… Great story, I agree if that man is any “Reflection” of the group I’d probably not see it as a fit either.
It is a lovely photo–I especially like the right side up/upside down nature of the reflection but also the contrast between the warm colors of the sun on the water and the cool blue of the railings.
I’m certainly glad you looked and found this gorgeous reflection! I think you’re right…they weren’t the group for you!
