Index Card A Day

I am joining in with Daisy Yellow’s ICAD challenge again this year.
The challenge is basically to make a little time for creativity, on an index card, with anything, once a day for 61 days.

I am posting to Flickr but I’ll share a few days at a time here. I’m using a 6 x 4 card and following the prompts where possible doing just what pops into my head as I read the prompt. I have noticed after the first week that I interpret the prompts fairy literally, I wonder if that will change as the days go on.

The last few days of this great challenge. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 61 days of making art every day.
Here are my last few cards.

Stencils and Pencils

Scraps
machine felted scraps
I collected a box of sewing bits, the tiny craps and the cotton left at the end of a sewing session which you would normally throw in the bin. I machine felted them onto a piece of muslin and cut a piece for this card.

Lint and Flowers

I collected some lint from the tumble dryer. Over a few days I had some different colours and machine felted it onto some lightweight linen. I love the texture it produced, if a little dusty! It also amuses me greatly when I recall the face of my husband when I told him what it was! The flowers are hand felted.

And as it is the last day of the project this is my only digital card. I had seen someone make a crossword of words but I can’t find the blog now, if it was your card let me know? but my words didn’t turn out to be a good shape for a crossword so I made the words fit together like this.

So my twenty words say thank you to Tammy at Daisy Yellow for a brilliant project, and thank you all for looking at my cards and saying such nice things.

I have my days 13 – 27 July to share with you.

I was thinking about different ways to colour my backgrounds. Water colours, spray inks and pastels.
13-14-15-July
I have made fabric pages for a journal recently. I thought a little bit of it would make a great ICAD. I had some made in Britain tape from Abi and noticed that the apples I had in the dish had little flags on, then, as is the way I saw another flag. I made the envelope, it has a letter inside. I had fun remembering writing these acronyms on envelopes, Oh so long ago…
16-17-18-July
I love needle felting. The flowers were painted by my friend. I stitched and added beads. I feel as if the card has come alive rather than just stashed away somewhere unseen. Handmade paper and threads on my desk collaged under my sewing machine needle.
19-20-21-July

Silk Kimono has been on my desk for a few days waiting for the right background. Amaretti biscuit wrapper was the answer. Making and sewing, a dress form and vintage pattern paper. A Gelli print and a multi layered stitched heart
22-23-24-July

I had been watching the blackbird bathing in the bird bath. I like these Cotton legged birds with their bead or shell feet.
25-26-27

This is the last week of this challenge. Wednesday will see the last of 61 days of making a little piece of art every day. I have seen some really beautiful art and ‘met’ some lovely artists but best of all I have grown in confidence ‘making art’. Thank you Tammy and every one who visited and looked at my cards.

What’s next then?

We are almost at the end of this 61 day project. I have really loved making a little bit of art every day for the last couple of months and to see so much beautiful art on Daisy Yellows ICAD blog.

Here are my cards from 1st to 12th July

I had a play with some lines and colours, Kandinsky style and then cut the page up into cards for the prompt for a few days as I knew I wouldn’t be able to do much at the beginning of the month.
1-2-3-July

I had a card with a few cats on, I really liked the colours and shapes and wanted to use it in this project. I cut the card up and backstitched his whiskers with some embroidery thread. Paper beads, I just love making them and I find it very therapeutic.
4-5-6-July

Felting silk onto wool felt makes a gorgeous texture. Purple and Green a Colour of Summer prompt and I rescued the little post it notes from Bens someones bin!
7-8-9th-July

I like these aperture cards unfortunately the picture doesn’t do them justice. The red and yellow linen for the Summer of Colour prompt
10-11-12th-July

Daisy Yellow has some beautiful art cards on her blog if you have a moment, take a look.
