Texture Tuesday The Golden Edition

kimklassencafe

Hey ho life and sickness sometimes comes before blogging. I had the pictures ready but ran out of energy to post on Tuesday.
Kim’s Challenge this week was to use any picture with her Golden Texture on.

These sunflowers came in a bouquet I had at the weekend.

I am so thrilled to see these Zantedeschia doing well in the garden this year. For years I had a lovely white one but then one year she didn’t appear…just disappeared! I replaced her with this brightly coloured one, fingers crossed she will be happy here.

This Clematis was a present from work colleagues many years ago. Every year he arrives to remind me of lovely people and happy times. This is the second flowering this year.

Plants make wonderful gifts don’t they?

There will be beautiful golden pictures over here this week.

Texture Tuesday

Kim Klassen, over at her cafe challenged us to use a photo with people and one of her textures this week for her Texture Tuesday Challenge.
I thought you might like to see some family photos?

This is a photograph of the original picture which is in my files.
The picture layer is set to soft light. It has 2 layers of Kim’s texture Break Free both set at soft light, the first layer is softly brushed over and the second layer more heavily brushed to remove text on the texture from the people.
L to R This is my great Uncle, my great grandfather and my grandfather at my parents wedding.

This is also a photograph of the original picture which is in my files. The picture layer is set to soft light then 1 layer of Kim’s Simple Things texture, set to soft light, then the layer is softly brushed over to remove the texture from the people.
It is my fathers sister on the left, we are still in touch although not as often as I would like, and my mothers sister on the right, I am going to visit her in Dublin in July. I can’t wait to see her. It has been seven years since we were all together.

I’ll post the Bride and Groom next week and some of the wedding party the week after, How’s that?
Please hop over to Kim’s for some fabulous faces with textures

Texture Tuesday

Free and Easy Edition

I am linking to Kim Klassen’s Texture Tuesday with some favourite pictures to which I have added a layer of two of her very beautiful textures.

We were visiting Ashton Park near Bristol on Saturday, The deer were in the woods so close to the road and in the lovely field beyond. I need more camouflage practice, they all ran as they caught sight of me!

The bees were in bee heaven with so many different lavender plants at the farm shop on the way home.

I was playing with DoF shots with a row of jelly babies on a mirror and all of a sudden they all fell over!

Playing with textures for Texture Tuesday is so much fun. Take a look over here to see some fabulous texture work.

Texture Tuesday

I am linking with the wonderful Kim Klassen again this week. Her challenge was to put some words on a picture, and use at least one of her textures. This is so far out of my comfort zone!
I went for a couple of song lyrics.
The first, by the amazing Van Morisson which I have to confess to using before on a Valentines card to my husband many years ago. And the second is a very pretty song by Bob Marley which we sometimes sing at my song club.

I took this picture of my husband on his birthday this week and just put one layer of Kim’s vintage overlay on but I though the word was a bit mean so I took it off! (the word not the overlay, sorry Kim). The pretty red colour in the back ground is a beautiful Acer that I bought him for our Wedding Anniversary so I just wanted a subtle texture, the overlay was perfect.

Have I told you lately that I love you?
Have I told you there’s no one above you?
Fill my heart with gladness, take away my sadness
Ease my troubles that’s what you do

There is a video here of this lovely song.

The little green bird hangs on a branch in the garden. The pretty song by Bob Marley came to my mind and I wondered if I could make the one little bird into three little birds but I need more photoshop practice…

The little bird has one layer of Kim’s Plaster 2 at soft light lend mode and a layer of her Magic Edges.

Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, (“This is my message to you-ou-ou:”)

Here is a YouTube video of the song

Texture Tuesday

My local florist had these beautiful cornflowers in this week. I bought a bunch of them and a plant so next year I might have my own.
Kim Klassen’s texture challenge is Garden, how lovely is that? There will be wonderful textures here this week that’s for sure!

Cornflowers

This has two layers of Kim’s Stained Linen texture. The first layer is at soft light blend mode, the second at normal blend mode with opacity set to fifty percent and the big round soft brush over the stems and flowers.

Philadelphus heavy with rain

This has one layer of Not Too Shabby texture at normal blend mode and opacity set to 50% and February Magic edges and the big round soft brush over the blossom.

Alchemilla Mollis looking wonderful in the rain this morning

This has two layers of Golden texture both set at soft light. I set the second layer slightly smaller than the first to give my picture a frame. I used the big soft round brush over the whole area.

Iris
This Iris is so pretty but it grows against a grey stone wall and never photographs well, but then I discovered textures!

This has February Magic edges, one layer of Plaster 2 at soft light blend mode. I brushed the big round soft brush over the flower. I used a tiny part of an overlay and reduced the opacity down to 75% but once again I don’t know where I got the overlay from, it was long before I really knew how to use them. If anyone knows let me know? I have a much better labelling system in place now!

So that’s a little look in my garden on a wet bank holiday Monday. And of course a link to the wonderful Kim Klassen and her Texture Tuesday
