So That Was February

and we are already more than a week into March!

I think I survived February quite well. It was a short month and a very wet and cold month here, but no snow, just three hail storms in one day kind of a month.
February is my birthday month. When I was a child I remember thinking that the seven weeks between Christmas and my birthday was a lifetime! now of course the time flies by.
Then there’s Valentines day which we love to celebrate in our house. I had beautiful flowers and a card from my Valentine.
I loved taking part in Sian’s Pile of Postcards swap again. I hope all mine have been received by now.

February, A couple of meals out and an evening looking at birds, visiting an art installation, dinner with Ben & Lotta, and coffee’s with friends made my February lovely.

And now we are in March, the weather seems to be alternating between gorgeous sunshine & rain! That would be March then.

Me In January

Due to reasons I can no longer remember I am posting this almost a week after I wrote it. Hey Ho, life happens 🙂

Me in January 2015

I can hardly believe that it is January 22nd today which is a remarkable statement from one who, in past years has struggled terribly with the January Blues.
On the first of January I feel like I am standing at the bottom of an extremely high mountain and can’t imagine ever getting to the halfway mark let alone the top. This is madness.
Who put the mountain there? Me
Who made me stand at the bottom? Me
Who makes me think I have to climb it? Me
Or climb anything? Me

This January I decided, or, made an intention that I will not even think about starting over. It’s that phrase isn’t it? ‘Starting over’ It doesn’t suit me.

January is just another month.
Yes it’s cold, but I have the heating on
And I have a new hat & coat for when I venture outside
Yes its wet but so are many months here in the UK
It might snow! Good, snow = photo opportunities
We have work I can think about a holiday
I am able to spend time on my Mac
Time with my blog and
I am probably the last person in the world to have learnt about Instagram.
My friend PrairieJill has been helping me get started and one or two folks have kindly pressed ‘follow’
I am off for a weekend away tomorrow. Just me, on a course to learn about Bookbinding. It was a Christmas gift from my lovely and ever thoughtful husband.

Me in January with a new haircut, more feathers and a positive outlook, Oh! and I’m trying to get up earlier!

I am ikibana_banana on instagram. Why? All the good names were gone.

Six Words

On Sunday

Adrienne’s word for Friday 14th October was CROSS
Thanks to Maureen at Josephina Ballerina for the idea.

6 words Cross

Why? because I have never been able to master it, so I suppose I’m cross with me, not the cross stitch. Is there a craft you’ve not been able to master?

This may be controversial, but for me, it works.

November and Me

Sian over at High in the Sky posted a beautiful Lay Out yesterday journalling how she feels about November. She wondered what others felt this month.

Here’s how I feel in November.

November & me

Looking in my Christmas drawer and the feeling of Oh! I’d forgotten I had that…

Leaves in all their glorious colour. Picking them up, taking them home and photographing them. Yes again! I love them, they make my heart sing

Resolving to post the Christmas cards on the first of December

Winter boots, hat and scarf, my new winter coat and of course a new hat. Orange this year. No I don’t think I look like a pumpkin!
Wolley tights and a shorter skirt…all ready for when the weather turns. You can smile but in 2012 we were in the garden sitting around the fire on Christmas eve!

Winter food, casseroles and puddings. It’s the only time of the year I make them.
Checking the sloe gin, is it ready yet?

Lists, endless lists for Christmas.
Booking my delivery slot at the supermarket and never remembering what size turkey to buy and remembering the year I made notes for the following year, one of which said: Buy a bigger turkey. “Bigger than what?” my husband said. Yes I had forgotten to write down the weight of the ‘too small’ turkey.

Sorting the bed linen for Christmas guests.
Changing the curtains and covers in our bedroom from summer white to winter red.

Armistice day. Standing in the freezing cold in years gone by, remembering and giving thanks.
A special friends birthday, the day of her passing and her funeral, Oh! so many memories.

A daily photo challenge with a theme of Giving Thanks.

The feeling of Oh! It’s ages yet and then the feeling of OMG it’s the first of December tomorrow.

The constant invitations begining with “Oh! we must… before Christmas”. Why can’t “we must”… in July?

November, a time for pausing, to take stock:
of time passing,
and seasons changing.
A time for planning,
for gathering and
Giving Thanks.

Thank you Sian
