He is feeding her

He has three or four stopping places before he goes into the nest. He starts on the the tall fence which is fairly open, he can see the nest and the garden. Sometimes he flits along a little closer to the shrubs that afford him some cover, more waiting, more looking. He can’t see the nest from here but he is nearer to the shrubs. He can hear the click of my shutter though! Then onto the low fence which is much closer to the shrubs. It is also right next to the water bath but he can’t visit that this time. From here over to the arch, his last look out post from where he can see the nest. More waiting and waiting, checking and checking and keeping his eye on me!

Then when I blink my eyes he has taken the short flight up into the ivy to his lady. I miss that bit!

What a great system! Isn’t nature wonderful?

Thank you Helena.

Not very exciting is it?
Now I would never make a wild life photographer, I just can’t sit still for long enough and then when something happens I miss it!

Here are the pair of Blackbirds that have their nest in the ivy.

Mrs Blackbird

Mr Blackbird

Fortunately they don’t need that arrow, they seem to know exactly which leaf is their entrance. I pin pointed it by the yellow leaf at 10 o’clock from the top left hand corner of the lamp. No matter how much I zoomed in I can’t see them, they were in there when I took the photo’s

Week 17

Zooming in and out trying to conquer my fear of moths. I rescued this from a vase of water. I was terrified that it would move but then realised that it must be waterlogged, so wouldn’t.

Zooming in and out at nature this week.
I know it was probably a bit rude of me but I was so thrilled to see a ladybird a few weeks ago that when I spotted two of them on one leaf, well I just couldn’t resist. I left husband watching them while I ran in for my camera. Fortunately they were still engrossed. He did wonder what to do if they moved!

So nature doing what nature does and on such a beautiful leaf. Fingers crossed I will see some more in a few weeks.

Thank you for this lovely meme Helena.

Zoom In Zoom Out week thirteen

This week I have been zooming in and out at the fishing lake at the end of the garden of the house we stayed in a couple of weekends ago. I was out in the garden at about 8:30am on the Sunday morning, not a soul about, quiet except for the birdsong. I saw the Canada geese through my telephoto lens and watched them gracefully glide towards me across this beautiful lake. I imagine that the people who live along the edge of the lake feed them. I was thinking the scene would make a nice ZIZO so I have put a few pictures into a slide show for you this week.
You should have heard the noise they made when they realised I had nothing for them!
