About Miriam Rogers

Hi, I have been married to Paul for what seems like forever & that's the way I want it to stay. We have a son, now 21 and a Greyhound who is bonkers. I play with paper and glue, I love flowers! and anything that I can hang from anywhere with ribbon. If you need me I can be found in the garden with my camera or in my craft room, come in through the gate, I'll make you a coffee or if it's after 6 you can join me in a glass or wine, or e-mail me. Housework is low on my 'to do' list.

Pairs Week 50

A before and after Pairs from me this week.
My friend & I went to a wreath making workshop last Friday. It was such fun and very festive with all the beautiful greenery, the perfume, the christmas carols playing and the mince pies and coffee. We both came away feeling very festive.

A very heavy Christmas Wreath, a first for me.

Thank you Helena

As I was typing ‘Week 50′ I thought that I must have got my week numbers muddled, it’s not two weeks ’til the end of the year? I checked here to find that there are 53 weeks in this year. How odd! Week one only had four days in it, I suppose that’s why. Hooray! the means we have three more Pairs instead of two! Result! as someone I know would say.

Pairs Week 49

Goodness me, It’s December! Hooray I can listen to Christmas carols, all over the house instead of very quietly so that no one heard them playing all through November.

The pyracantha around here is so beautiful this year! I think it is so festive.

The electronic gremlins have been tinkering with my blog posts. December & Me should have published on Tuesday and this should have published on Wednesday. I have been preoccupied with hospital visits so didn’t realise until last night. Apologies if my posts don’t read exactly right. Im sure you ‘get the picture’ 🙂

December and Me

This lovely idea is Sian’s over at high in the sky.

I was laughing with my husband about the way things used to be and how very old and out of touch with the modern world we feel. There, did you notice? I used the phrase ‘Modern World’ I used it quite naturally, without thought, it’s become part of my language. My grandmother used to say that!

We used to go to the village to see what lovely things The Goblin Market had in stock. Call in at the bank to get some cash, then onto Cantells to look and possibly order some of our Christmas fayre. Then along the road to Elsies the florist to see what new ideas she had for christmas floral decorations. Drop in at the post office to buy stamps and drop them into the box outside. His mums or her mums for Christmas day lunch would already be decided, we go to the opposite one from last year. And on the way home call in at Clays the butcher to order what we wanted for new year

Now its all ‘on line’ Should I pay for next day? I’ve booked ‘my slot’ at the supermarket, I have until 15th to make alterations. My friend is taking me to a wreath making class. I can’t remember the last time I had any money in my purse, I don’t even need a few pounds since I can now fast pay on my card.
The ‘kids are going to Lapland to see Father Christmas for a week! What’s wrong with the co-op? Does he not go there anymore?
Mind you I remember e-mailing him last year!

Hey Ho as I’m prone to chanting these days. We will have a wonderful day, the only things I am making are some gifts for the family. I have long since learnt that Christmas is still magical even though the most I do is have a supermarket delivery, peel the sprouts and open the rather luscious Christmas pudding.
I need, ‘at home together’, more than anything this year.

Today I am sticking with the wonderful tradition of actually hand writing my Christmas cards with Christmas carols filling the air around me.

Happy December.

Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas this year is for the person reading this to be Healthy Happy and loved.

Pairs Week 48

What happened to last week? It disappeared in a flurry of card and gift making! You should see my desk! Sorry no picture, just in case…
There is a space for my mouse and my keyboard is balanced on Christmas magazines. It’s Saturday and I just remembered Pairs!

My lovely Christmas Cacti isn’t so lovely this year. I think I need to repot it and perhaps feed it? But, I remembered to take a picture when I saw the bud and then again this week.

Thank you for this lovely meme Helena. I’ll be sad to say goodbye to it in a few weeks. Each year I think this is the best! I wonder if you are doing another photo meme next year?
Hope you had a wonderful holiday.

Pairs Week 47

I picked up some seeds or tree fruits at the weekend, there were plenty of these on the ground after the winds and rain at the end of last week.

I’m not that confident about identifying trees and mostly I forget to take a picture of the leaves

I think these are the fruit of the lime or linden tree

And these of the Holm Oak

I did remember to take this because in my mind I couldn’t put the Laurel like leaf with the acorn

I am more than happy to be corrected on my ID skills, 🙂
