Open & Closed
My pair this week features a pine cone brought in tightly closed and put ontop of my fridge. (I have no idea why, except that I like pine cones) I photographed it because that’s what I do. I am pleased I did of course because a few days later in the warmth of my kitchen it had opened beautifully.
Pairs is Helenas meme for 2015
beautiful in both states – collecting pine cones and photographing them seems perfectly normal to me!
Hi Miriam!
I adore pinecones. Do you know what kind of tree these came from? They are so different looking from the cones of the White Pines by my house.
My friend put snake eggs on top of his refrigerator. I went to visit and started out of the blue talking about snakes and he suddenly yells “OH SH#T!” and runs to the fridge. Where baby snakes were Just coming out of the eggs!
Now, I must eat you know, I have no idea what Ray wrote in the card. I had set a few aside to do myself, and the next thing I know, a card to you is winging its way to Australia! How Funny!! Well, it’s a big world. Maybe it’s still Christmas somewhere? LOL!

Lovely textures, Miriam … I am another fan of pine cones and often bring them back from walks near and far. A great idea for a pair.
I saw another open and closed pair earlier and I’m going to say the same thing about this one: it’s a pairing which invites a lot of thought. I like it.
Both beautiful and such lovely textures. I think I must be turning dyslexic as every time I see this meme, I think it says Paris!
I love pine cones…..but till now never thought about them starting closed and opening up!!
I had some pine cones that we picked up at Brownsea Island and they opened up by the fire. A great pairing.
How interesting! They don’t look like the same pinecone at all.
Nice pairing! Xx
I always like collecting things on my walks and seeing how they change once home. Lovely open and closed 🙂
How great to capture the before and after. Lovely pictures 🙂
