I am joining in with Kristin’s Summer of Colour. It hardly seems a year since I made bunting for SOC 2013. Summer of Colour runs for 6 weeks, it’s not too late to join in. Make anything in the colours Kristin chooses each week.
I have decided to make whimsical houses this year.
The first weeks colours are Aqua Blue, Yellow and a splash of Hot Pink
My lovely husband cut the wood for me although he wasn’t happy cutting the odd shaped roofs and asked me to be sure to let you know that it wasn’t his measuring, he just cut on my lines. I have painted the various shaped houses with gesso and pasted some torn book pages on to give a bit of texture. the colours are acrylic paint. This house has paper doors and windows. The butterfly was a button, I cut the shank off to stick it onto the roof. I really like the heart and flower instead of a chimney.
I can’t wait to see what everyone else has come up with. Already there are 50+ links up on Kristins blog.
Last years SOC bunting blowing in the breeze again this year.
Thank you Kristin
Hi Miriam! How fun! Adorable, whimsical house. When I was a little girl, I could gaze at something like that for ages while making up all sorts of stories in my head about what it would be like to live in a place like that. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Me again. Speaking of Summer Colors, stop by and feast your eyes on the glorious, saturated colors of Winter Begonias that husband planted. I make quilts in colors like those. http://josephinaballerina.blogspot.com/2014/06/ray-and-rigor-begonias.html#comment-form
Oh what an excellent idea!! Great submission.

I love the wonky lines of the house! Your lines are fun and fabulous. Tell hubby to stop complaining! The heart and flower are much better than a chimney. I love it!
I absolutely ADORE your little house! I love your creativity and can’t wait to see what you come up with in the next weeks!!!! You used the SOC colors beautifully!
What a clever idea, Miriam! I can’t wait to see the whole neighbourhood at the end of the 6 weeks.
I love the wonkiness of this little house, and the heart chimney.
I’m doing houses, too! Mine are tiny. My post goes live in about an hour and then I’ll link up. I’ve already posted the first one to the facebook page.

love that your house is sending out love from its roof
This is so cute…love the details 🙂
Thanks for dropping by!
Fab project, looks like summertime and fun.
What a fun project, and your house is just beautiful, Miriam!
Have a wonderful weekend.

very nice….I made the same comment as Jill about the neighborhood on Rinda’s blog…it applies here just as well!! Is that fabric you used for the stripes?
Such Whimsy! Very creative.
Wowza – this house is the best! I want to live in it. Tell your hubby that he did a great job and we all prefer a crooked roof. 🙂
Love your house! And the wonkier, the better! So much fun and so cheerful! Thx for sharing and eagerly awaiting the next ones in the line.
Cheers~
I adore that darling house. I really wish mine could be that colorful, but I would be kicked out of my neighborhood if it looked that summery and colorful.
Yes, it was great to meet up with you again. This should be a lot of fun.
Awww such a sweet house! And what a nice husband to help out!
It will be interesting to see what your village looks like at the end of this project. I look forward to seeing more.
Oh, it’ super! I just want to move in :). I love houses and whimsy so it’s going to be a delight seeing what you make:).
