Scrapping the Everyday

Inspired by Amy

This beautiful Lavender field is near Axbridge in Somerset. It is only open during July and August and in all the years I have lived around here this is the first time I have seen it. Apart from the fabulous colours, the perfume filling the warm summer air was just wonderful! There is a little shop there where you can buy all things Lavender, plants, oil, sprays, soap, cut stems, hand lotion… and they have just opened a lovely little cafe outside in the field, the tables have lavender coloured check table cloths on, and there are pretty cushions on the chairs. Tea is served from proper tea pots and china cups and saucers. The whole thing says English Summer in the Country. Yes there were Lavender cakes and Lavender tea which was absolutely gorgeous.
And publishing this on a cold rainy November morning I am reminded of a beautiful warm perfumed filled day.

Spider

Aranaeus diadematus

I just love watching the garden spider build her web and then come back later to see it full of lunch for her!

I seemed to have developed a love part of
my hate relationship with spiders.
This particular garden spider has facinated me
with her web making skills and I have taken
endless photos of her just as long as she
stays still in her web! September 2011

Is there something you can tolerate from behind your lens that you would otherwise stay far away from?

Shades of Autumn Photo Challenge

I have been playing with some Autumny (is that a word?) things. I seem to have an accidental nature table, I just have to pick up a beautiful leaf or seed head. Do you do that?
Anyway my collection reminds me of the nature table at playgroup and early school years… I liked the variety of stuff on the table, carefully collected leaves, acorns, pine cones, the odd twig, bits of grass, a beautiful chestnut, Postman Pat , Noddy, (that was our contribution!) My fault entirely. I was talking about Autumn colours, showing my boy the golds and yellows, reds and browns on the trees around us. He told ‘Mrs Malone’ our playgroup leader, that of course Noddy’s car was suitable because it was yellow. Postman Pat? Well if Ben had brought Noddy why shouldn’t Nick bring Postman Pat.

I couldn’t resist another collage!
Isn’t brown a beautiful rich colour?

And because it is the eleventh day of the eleventh month of the year two thousand and eleven I have eleven pictures in my collage and I will post this at eleven o’clock this evening.

I put my collage together in Collage It for mac. http://www.collageitfree.com

There are some fabulous Autumn Brown photos over here this week

Ten on the Tenth

Shimelle hosts Ten on the Tenth. A list of anything, anything at all, but it must be on the tenth of the month and contain ten…well anything. I love it but then I love lists.

I did my list and picture a few days ago but I hadn’t realised it was the tenth today until right now! I have been so busy at work the last week or so, time just flies when your having fun?

Over at Shutter Sisters Alex asked
What do you believe?

• I believe that things happen for a reason.
• I believe it is important to be thankful for the things I have.
• I believe what my heart tells me
• I believe in friendship and kindred spirits
• I believe in the power of prayer
• I believe tomorrow is another day
• I believe in forgiveness
• I believe today is special so burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear your best perfume
• I believe that the only person in charge of my happiness is me.
• I believe that all that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

The photo is my sky on November 3rd just before 6pm.

More great lists over at Shimelles today.
