Frugal Still Life Photography Week Two

This week we are looking at Cropping and Space

I love to fill the frame with my subject, probably because I love macro photography but I don’t always want to set my tripod up!
On the other hand white space is very lovely and calming so this week I did a bit of both on each set piece.

I didn’t crop any of my pictures, I set the frame up in the camera.

These are my favourites.
I like the lower half of the picture filling the frame

And this one I like because the blue is filling the space while the white hyacinth is adding to the white space top right

And I like the bright pop of colour and a lot of white space in this one.

FSL week2

I am enjoying playing around with still life, especially when it’s raining, which it is most days around here!

Thank you Cheryl

  1. I like all three, Miriam, though the texture of the stones will always speak to my heart :). Is the writing on the stones already or did you add it digitally afterwards?

  2. Wow! These are all gorgeous – I love the white space. I can’t pick a favourite. I love the neutrals and the shallow depth of field in the first one. I love blue, so of course I like the second one. And the third one is just amazing.

  3. all beautiful – what a great eye for creating a grouping, and then framing them wonderfully. I do love the white against white that you have achieved

  4. These are gorgeous shots Miriam! I don’t have a favorite – I like them all. Your last one has given me some ideas though… I do have white dishes I could play with…

  5. Still life is very difficult I think, but you are doing wonderfully. I especially love the photo of the tomatoes, you are right, love the pop of red and the white space.
