This week we are looking at Cropping and Space
I love to fill the frame with my subject, probably because I love macro photography but I don’t always want to set my tripod up!
On the other hand white space is very lovely and calming so this week I did a bit of both on each set piece.
I didn’t crop any of my pictures, I set the frame up in the camera.
These are my favourites.
I like the lower half of the picture filling the frame
And this one I like because the blue is filling the space while the white hyacinth is adding to the white space top right
And I like the bright pop of colour and a lot of white space in this one.
I am enjoying playing around with still life, especially when it’s raining, which it is most days around here!
Thank you Cheryl
I like all three, Miriam, though the texture of the stones will always speak to my heart :). Is the writing on the stones already or did you add it digitally afterwards?
Your photography is always so beautiful, Miriam, it’s no wonder every one of these shots is stunning! I love the tomato shot!
Wow! These are all gorgeous – I love the white space. I can’t pick a favourite. I love the neutrals and the shallow depth of field in the first one. I love blue, so of course I like the second one. And the third one is just amazing.
Excellent job! I especially like the tomatoes. Great color and composition.

all beautiful – what a great eye for creating a grouping, and then framing them wonderfully. I do love the white against white that you have achieved
These are gorgeous shots Miriam! I don’t have a favorite – I like them all. Your last one has given me some ideas though… I do have white dishes I could play with…
Beautiful photographs as always, Miriam!…I think the tomato one is my fave!

The tomato is my favorite too
Still life is very difficult I think, but you are doing wonderfully. I especially love the photo of the tomatoes, you are right, love the pop of red and the white space.
They are all lovely, but the tomatoes are my favorite. Love that bright red against the white!
These are all beautifully done, Miriam. Of the three, I think I like the simplicity and contrast of the tomatoes.
Great shoots but the tomato shot I LOVE – it’s my favorite….
Hugs
I love all of these..I’m the same. I love macro shots, but I also have a real fondness for a picture with lots of white space
