That means it&#8217;s time to visit <a href=\"http:\/\/fromhighinthesky.blogspot.in\/\">Sian at High in the Sky<\/a> for a wonderful day of story telling.  Story telling Sunday is wonderful in it&#8217;s self but I just love the way that reading a story can trigger a memory for the reader. That was me last month!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/overatourplace.blogspot.com.au\/2012\/03\/storytelling-sunday.html\">Amy\u2018s <\/a>story in March reminded me of this.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spring term 1992 Playschool<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/miriamrogers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Fish.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miriamrogers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Fish.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"Fish\" width=\"500\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6369\" srcset=\"https:\/\/miriamrogers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Fish.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/miriamrogers.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Fish-300x198.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ben was in trouble with Mrs. Malone, our playschool leader, again!<br \/>\n\u201cWhat for this time?\u201d I asked her.<br \/>\n\u201cTo encourage thinking about numbers we have some goldfish at playschool this week.\u201d She told me.<br \/>\n\u201cToday we have some pictures of empty goldfish bowls, each bowl has a number written above it. We asked the children to read the number and then draw that amount of goldfish in the bowl&#8221;. She showed me a template picture of a goldfish bowl. Bens had the number five printed over it.<br \/>\nBen had only drawn four fish and apparently couldn&#8217;t be persuaded to draw any more.<br \/>\nHe had drawn three skinny little fish and one fat little fish, coloured this way and that in orange of course. It was probably the only colour available to the children.<br \/>\nHe had at least done that bit right for her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy have you only drawn four fish Ben? Mrs Malone wanted you to draw five?\u201d<br \/>\nNowadays of course self-expression would receive a pat on the back but sadly we are in the early nineties\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are five fish mummy\u201d chirped up my lad.<br \/>\nI looked harder\u2026 no, definitely only four.<br \/>\n\u201cmummy can only see four darling\u201d I said brightly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat one has a baby fish inside her tummy\u201d  He pointed to the fat one with the darker orangey bit in the middle (sounds like a little Jaffa cake!)<br \/>\n\u201cThat makes five fishes Mummy\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Can you imagine the smug smile I had on my face as I picked up my beautiful, funny, bright little chap and almost flounced out of play school?<\/p>\n<p>There will be wonderful stories for you <a href=\"http:\/\/fromhighinthesky.blogspot.in\/\">here<\/a> today.
